Boot Camps
Participants were selected through boot camps organized by Yunus Social Business
Centre Nepal, King’s College in 12 different cities across seven provinces: Nepalgunj,
Dhangadi, Surkhet, Birgunj, Chitwan, Dang, Dharan, Biratnagar, Pokhara, Butwal,
Janakpur, and Kathmandu. Altogether, 537 youth participated in the boot camps
and received training about ‘Solving Community Problems through Design Thinking
Approach’.
While there was a well-distributed participation from each of the 12 cities,
the total participation of males and females in the boot camps was also comparable, i.e.
58.65% and 41.34% respectively.
Pre-final Rounds
Out of 154 applications from all over Nepal comprising of diverse participants in terms
of geographical region, age, gender and educational background, 80 got selected in the
first round out of which 53 were shortlisted for the second round and finally, 10 in the
final round. The ideas were judged based on five criteria – Innovation, Social Purpose,
Business Model and Scalability, Team and Impact.
